Bookmark this page! It covers everything you need to keep the site fresh — adding paintings, products, events, blog posts, and photos — with short video tutorials for each task. Every link below goes to official training from the makers of the tools your site uses.

Start Here: Your Site Has Two Editors

Knowing which editor you are in makes everything else easy:

Your pages (Home, About, Murals, Contact…) are edited with Elementor — a visual editor where you click directly on the page and type. While signed in, open any page and click Edit with Elementor in the top bar. Click any text to change it, then press the Update button to save. Ctrl+Z undoes mistakes, and every save keeps a revision, so nothing is ever truly lost.

Your blog posts use the WordPress editor (also called the Block Editor). The videos in the next section cover it.

One rule of thumb: pages = Elementor, posts = WordPress editor. If a screen does not look like the videos, you are probably in the other editor — no harm done, just close without saving.

Writing Blog Posts

Getting Started with the WordPress Editor

The interface, adding text and images, and publishing. The best first video if you are new.

Posts vs. Pages — What is the Difference?

When something should be a blog post versus a page.

Using List View

A sidebar that shows everything in your post as a list, making it easy to select and rearrange things.

Using Headings

Structuring a post with headings so it reads well and Google understands it.

Embedding YouTube Videos and More

Dropping a YouTube video (like a time-lapse of a painting session!) or other outside content into a post.

Photos & the Media Library

Every image on the site lives in one place: the Media Library (left menu → Media).

Using the Media Library

Uploading photos, finding existing ones, adding them to posts, and writing image descriptions (ALT text).

Creating Image Galleries

Building and editing galleries in posts: adding, replacing, and reordering images.

Pro tip: before uploading, give photo files descriptive names like moose-painting-teton-sunset.jpg — it helps people find your work on Google.

Adding a New Painting

Your gallery has its own section — no video needed, it is a simple form:

  1. Left menu → PaintingsAdd New
  2. Add the title, the story behind the piece, and the size
  3. Set the featured image (the painting photo) on the right side
  4. Choose its collection (Bison, Moose, Landscapes…) so it appears under the right filter
  5. Press Publish — it appears in the gallery automatically

Adding a Product to the Shop

Anything someone can buy needs a product entry:

  1. Left menu → ProductsAdd New
  2. Add the name, description, price, and photos
  3. Press Publish — it appears on the Shop page automatically

If a painting is both in the gallery and for sale, it needs both a Painting entry and a Product entry.

Adding an Event (Paint N’ Sips & Showings)

  1. Left menu → EventsAdd New
  2. Add the title, date and time, location, and a few sentences about the event
  3. Add the event image and your registration link
  4. Choose the right calendar (Paint & Brews or Art Showings)
  5. Press Publish — it shows up on the Events pages and the homepage automatically

One important habit: when writing the event description, always use the normal visual editor view (where text looks like text). Skip anything labeled “HTML” or “code view” — edits made there do not always save correctly.

Golden Rules

  1. One change at a time. Make an edit, save, and check the live page before the next change.
  2. Nothing is permanent. Every save keeps a revision, so anything can be restored.
  3. Save buttons matter. Elementor = green Update button (bottom left). WordPress editor = blue Update/Publish button (top right). If you did not press it, it did not save.
  4. Stuck or unsure? Email [email protected] — happy to help or hop on a quick screen-share.
